It was much easier to choose the right bottle of wine for yourself in the olden days as the options were quite limited. The available choice was the well-known Nederburg or Simonsig, or you were not in with the cool.
These days you can go to the wine section at your local liquor shop, and you are literally bombarded by the wide variety of cultivars, brands and vintages. Some of the lesser or unknown brands get noticed for the first time here. So, why go for the wine you usually buy? Because it is familiar and never disappoints.
Some research was done to see if it makes any difference to the general public if a wine has won an award or not? We believe it does. Taking our market into consideration, which is mostly not connoisseurs but your everyday wine enjoyer.
They seem to be more likely to buy wine that has won an award because they know wine experts tasted and scored the wine on specific standards. Not all award-winning wines are expensive, believe it or not!
Quite a few bigger wine farms do not enter into competitions, as established brands with well known good variety wines in their collections are always top of mind.
We believe it is an excellent sales tool for any upcoming or lesser-known producer to enter wine competitions. It gives the wine enjoyer a sense of comfort when purchasing.
We are proud of the awards we have received during the past few years. We have definitely noticed the man on the street is more comfortable purchasing a bottle of wine with awards from our farm as ones with lesser or no recognition.
Did you know that for 2021 so far, we have won Double Gold at the Rosé Rocks Awards for our Le Pommier Rosé 2021!
