For us at Le Pommier Wine Estate, pizza is one of those foods that we never get tired of eating. And who is not always in the mood for pizza?
We recently built our own authentic wood fire pizza oven, we have already passed our 1000th pizza mark with many happy return clients.
Our pizza chef prepares the pizza bases daily, topped with our special secret tomato sauce. You can then build your own pizza from a selection of ingredients on our menu.
Le Pommier arguably boasts some of the best views in the Banhoek Valley in Stellenbosch. Pair our award-winning wines with pizzas of your choice and you have an outing that is a must do for the whole family!
If you feel like lazing around at home, we do wine and pizza take-aways. Call us and pick up your order on your way home.
If you are uncertain of which pizzas will be complemented by Le Pommier’s wines we have rounded up a few pairing ideas.
Pizza & Wine Pairing
The classic and straightforward flavours of tangy tomato, creamy mozzarella and fragrant basil, a margarita pizza lends itself to light/medium-bodied wines. The zesty flavours of our Le Pommier Dry Rosé is a perfect match.
With intense meaty (pepperoni, beef strips, bacon) flavours, you’re going to need a wine choice that’s up to the task, and the never-fail varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon or Jonathan’s Malbec.
The tannins will match perfectly with the fattiness of the meat, an undeniable flavour combination.
If you like your vegetables everywhere, think about a wine that’s not going to compete with the mix of components going on in a vegetarian pizza. Our choice will have to be Sauvignon Blanc.
